I’ll never forget my first day in sales.

The vice president walked me to my desk, pointed to the phone and said, “I’ll let you get to work” and she walked away.

I had no formal sales training. I had limited knowledge on our products and services. I had little support and I was scared to look like a fool. But I mustered courage, picked up the phone and began to make calls.

In two months, I managed to make 1,000 phone calls. But I only managed to make a dozen appointments and three sales. I was discouraged, but I didn’t give up.
